holybass.pngThe annual Holy Bass Reunion event raised $5,400 for The Cadets and brought together Holy Bass Alumni along with other generations of Cadets in celebration of the 85th Anniversary at DCI East on Saturday, Aug. 3 for a fantastic performance and fundraiser.

Holy Bass Organizers, led by Michael Giambra and Jerede Brown, have committed that this effort will continue year after year and that all Cadet alumni are invited to celebrate annually with the Holy Bass fraternity at the next annual reunion. YEA! will coordinate, on behalf of the Holy Bass Reunion effort, with the DCI Eastern Classic Committee to create a bedrock foundation for a growing centralized Cadets Alumni presence at the annual Eastern Classic event.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Behold The Cadets!

For those of you who haven’t seen the 85th Anniversary Edition of The Cadets, this is how audiences across America have been introduced to the 154 young men and women who make up the remarkable version of this year’s corps.

For those who have yet to see this exceptional group of performers, BEHOLD, is the name of the 2019 production featuring a storyline in honor this year’s 50th Anniversary of Women in the corps.

Off the field, thanks to you, The Cadets have built one of the strongest communities of fans, parents, alumni and volunteers in support of the corps. This support is critical for us to provide a world-class experience.

From buses to food to instruments and equipment it takes a dedicated group to ensure all of the needs of our members are met so that they can focus on their job: being the very best Cadet, and the very best individual they can be.

Today kicks-off the DCI Giving Challenge, the annual competition between our fellow drum corps in a contest to see who can raise the most funds before August 2.

Katie, we ask you to help support The Cadets in this activity-wide fundraiser, as well as boosting The Cadets through the end of the tour! Just click donate.cadets.org and make your contribution today!

You can support The Cadets in two ways:

USBands and the BAND Mobile App hosted a reception to kick-off the Texas Bandmaster Association Conference at the Grand Hyatt of Thursday evening to welcome music educators to the 2019 TBA Conference as well as the new USBands season.

Eric Kitchenman, Eric James, Jason Howard and Steve Hankins headed up the USBands team onsite as the organization continues to expand its offerings throughout the fall marching band season in Texas. Eric Kitchenman was able to provide insight into nearly a half dozen new events for the USBands schedule, plus information on the all-new USBands Salute to Veterans Championships scheduled for Veterans Day in AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington.

Peter Hensch from the BAND Mobile App was on-hand with Chris Roberts, Assistant Director of the Vanguard Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps who is one of the leading innovators in the use of BAND for marching band and drum and bugle corps nationally.

Peter and Chris will be on-hand throughout the TBA Conference at the USBands booth to provide 1:1 sessions for music educators to learn more on how to save time and improve communications between students, staff and parents.

USBands is thrilled to welcome three new members to the team with Jim Sheeley joining us as the USBands Director, Matt Chamberlin as Event Staff Manager and Consultant, and Judy Ulchinsky as Adjudication Education Manager. All three are welcome additions to the team as we seek to provide the best service for the best events in the marching arts.

"The breadth of experience in the marching arts that Jim, Matt, and Judy possess is expansive," said Vicki Ferrence Ray, Executive Director of USBands' parent organization Youth Education in the Arts. "They each bring a fresh perspective to USBands along with their combined decades of experience. We truly couldn't ask for better people on the team."

Seven years ago USBands offered a separate approach for adjudicating A Class. At the time, this was a big step forward in addressing the need to recognize variances in bands’ programming. In the spirit of evolution and refining what we do, we are proud to announce another important step forward. In 2019 we are offering universal number application throughout the entire system along with a simple weighting system that will be used on all captions. Every band director, staff, performer and adjudicator will know the meaning of a tenth and how it’s applied to their score.
